What is KOBBS?

KOBBS is a long-established tea manufacturer certified by the Swedish Royal Family. For over 200 years, we have been selling loose leaf tea.

KOBBS black tea, a long-selling product, is also very popular at Fikahuset. Flavored tea with a pleasant aroma that will make you smile is a masterpiece that will relax both your mind and body.

The journey of KOBBS

Its origins can be traced back to a company that purchased tea from Sweden between the 1600s and 1800s.

1809 Martin Samuel Kobb founded KOBBS in Gothenburg, Sweden's second largest city. Since then, KOBBS has been passed down from generation to generation by his sons.

It is now one of Sweden's leading tea brands, and is widely known as the tea maker that is the purveyor to the Swedish royal family.

Since 2007, it has been owned by the long-established coffee maker Löfbergs. We are also expanding our sales channels and gaining popularity.

Crisis due to influx of tea bags

Although KOBBS black tea enjoys a stable popularity these days, it has not always been smooth sailing over the past 200 years.

In the 1950s, British tea companies such as Lipton, Tetley, and Twinings entered the Swedish market one after another. Unable to overcome the aggressive marketing of their tea bags, the traditional Swedish tea company unfortunately gets wiped out.

KOBBS market share decreased to only 4%. I have to do something…. KOBBS is heading to England to prepare for a campaign to make Swedes reacquaint themselves with the goodness of loose leaf.

Over 600,000 teapots given away

KOBBS has come up with a campaign to help Swedes enjoy the perfect way to brew black tea. We purchased over 600,000 British-made teapots in the UK and gave them away as gifts along with tea cans containing tea leaves, teapots, strainers, and instructions.

This campaign seems to have been a success, and the number of people who prefer loose leaf tea will increase.

Relaxing fika with loose leaf tea

KOBBS states the following on their official website:

Att koppla ner både rent fysiskt men också psykiskt.

Brewing tea with KOBBS loose leaf tea takes a little longer, but I think that's a good thing. This will give you time to relax both physically and mentally.
